It’s Better to Look Good and Feel Good! #ClearBeauty #Allegra #CBias

As the More is More Mom®, I’m all about……more feeling fab! In all my life, I have never battled allergies until this year. The sneezing, the itchy throat, the runny nose, the watery eyes! It’s such a total drag. One of my favorite parodies is Billy Crystal doing Fernando Lamas, “It is better to look good than to feel good. And you look…..mahvelous!” When you don’t feel well, it’s one thing, but when you aren’t looking your best, it’s time to head to the CVS Pharmacy!

Rather than self-prescribe, I decided to pay a visit to a professional; the pharmacist. After explaining (and complaining about) my symptoms, she recommended Allegra #ClearBeauty. Sneezing? Check. Itchy throat? Check. Runny Nose? Check. Watery Eyes? Check. And, when using your CVS card in the month of May, a 30 count pack of Allegra is just $17.99. YAY! If I am going to be feeling better, I should celebrate by looking better too.

I just haven't been feeling like myself lately. Treating myself to a little make over is just what the doctor ordered!

In fact, why not check out the Allergy Makeover Game

Today was my lucky day; my Amanda just so happened to be my shopping companion. Who better to help me investigate the cosmetics department than a teenage girl? They are practically a walking encyclopedia of beauty trends. Besides, I am always admiring her eye make-up. Perhaps today is the day I learn her secrets……

There was shelf after shelf of magic potions. While I didn’t know quite where to start, Amanda jumped right in. Oh, to be young. She has a perfect peaches and cream complexion (I remember those days fondly), so she is all about the smoldering eye. We looked at eye-liner, eye-shadow and mascara; every color, every color combination, every texture, every finish.

Excitedly, I settled on a new eye-liner, REVLON Luxurious Color in Sueded Brown, and stocked up on my newest favorite mascara L’OREAL Voluminous Million Lashes. Seriously; if it’s good enough for Gwen Stefani…. Anyway, for me, I am always really confused about eye-shadow. That’s where Amanda came in. After perusing CVS’s enormous selection, we decided to try Milani’s RUNWAY Eyes in Fashionista Pinks. But Amanda always has this little bit of sparkle, so we also tossed Milani’s Peaches & Cream sparkly shadow into our cart as well.

It was like beauty make-over Christmas! As soon as we got home, I spilled out all of my new cosmetics on the counter and flipped through the latest issue of In Style magazine for further inspiration. I am the type of person that wears new shoes out of the store, so I was really excited to play with my new make-up.

As my own harshest critic, I must admit that after I started taking the Allegra, and tried on my new face, I felt happy and refreshed (with just a little dash of sparkle!).

You can feel refreshed too by checking out Allegra at their website, on Twitter and Facebook.

More allergy relief, more Allegra, more new cosmetics, more feeling fab…….

MIA…Missoni at Target

As the More is More Mom®, I’m all about….. more fashion at Target! Ever since I was a tween, I have been obsessed with style. I can actually remember my very first issue of Seventeen magazine ever, which featured beautiful models sporting camouflage and lavender. It was amazing.

When I was 13 years old, I was the recipient of one of the most influential books of my youth; The Official Preppy Handbook. From that moment, I had a penchant for 14 carat gold knot earrings, kilts, broadcloth button down Oxfords, vintage bow ties, argyle socks and sweaters, Weejun Bass penny loafers, Tretorn tennis shoes, Sporto duck shoes, Lacoste and Ralph Lauren polo style shirts, Le Sport Sac bags. The list of fabulously preppy apparel just goes on and on.

Over the years, my obsessions have run deep and wide. I’m especially partial to high style for less, which is why I have adored Target from the moment we met. In recent years, I have made the mad pilgrimage from Target Greatland to Target Greatland for such noted designers as Liberty of London and John Derian.

The minute I read all about Missoni doing a line for Target in In Style magazine, I went gaga. Missoni is heralded for their iconic, fantastic and modern striped patterns for apparel and home goods. Fashionable clothing and home décor, how could I not be intrigued? In bright colored Sharpies, I noted the date of Missoni’s arrival on my calendar; Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

Back in the day, when Nick and Amanda were little, I would drag them to the seasonal grand openings of one of my very favorite treasure hunting haunts, Tuesday Morning. We might pick up doughnuts and juice boxes as a treat as we passed the time as I had them in line for the 8am opening. Bribery went a long way.

While Missoni’s arrival was on my calendar, I had a very busy morning opening day. I was meeting my gal pals to train for our 15K and had samples to deliver to one of my clients. By the time I arrived at the best Target ever (the one in Warrenville, IL on Diehl Road, where my good friend Sal, of Swanton Video Media, and I taped our Ronald McDonald House Video), it was too late. Everything was SOLD OUT like it was the World Series and the Cub’s were chasing October.

I felt as though I were wondering around amongst the apocalypse, with death and destruction surrounding me. By noon, I could practically smell it. Apparently the majority of the stylish pieces were sold by the time 8:30am had rolled around (a mere 30 minutes after the store opened).

What can you do? While I spied few items here and there, I dig snag a pair of Missoni rain boots. Hey, here in Chicago, I’m likely to need them…

More style for less, more iconic designers, more apparel and home goods, more Missoni……..

Ode to Lady Liberty….of London that is!

As the More is More Mom® you know my motto is, “More of Everything is Always Better”……which would include the super cool line Liberty of London designed for Target this year. Two months ago I was perusing the pages of In Style Magazine, the bible of up to the minute fashion trends, when I took note of a feature about Liberty of London bringing their hip design sense to the States by way of the ultra cool, fashion forward and smartly affordable….. Target Stores. Genius! Those Target people are so darn clever. They are all about great design at reasonable prices, and they rarely disappoint.

I tore the page right out of the magazine and tucked it neatly in my purse. Armed with my arsenal of weapons….Visa, American Express and my Debit card; the treasure hunt was on. After a long and dreary Midwest winter the sight of the lovely patterns and happy rainbow of hues made my heart sing (and you know how much I like to sing, even out loud…I’m so sorry). Whenever I get a bee in my bonnet, my obsessive tendencies completely take over (okay, okay, they’re more than tendencies. I suppose they might border on personality disorder) and I am unable to concentrate on little else. For weeks I have been trolling the aisles of no fewer than five Target stores, repeatedly, over and over again, like a hamster on a treadmill. Why you may wonder was one Target simply not enough? Well, not to give away all my little secrets, but I believe that the merchandise each store carries is based on demographic, so each store carries a little something different. For instance only one of the five Target’s featured women’s bathing suits (not for me, for Amanda. I would hate to frighten young children at the pool. Now if Liberty of London had perhaps considered a house coat we might have been in business) and another one carried a different pattern flip flop and tote bag. Very interesting……

The lines were beautiful! They carried women’s apparel:

Stationary:

Picture frames and scented candles (I gave a candle to my friend that hosted our book club meeting because the book we read, Little Bee, was set in London……I’m a sucker for authenticity and a great tie in):

Gardening accessories (totally loaded up on flirty and trendy flower pots):

Amanda fell in love with the bedding (a gift from the Easter Bunny…..but notice the totally stylish and happening black chandelier wall clings, bedecked, be-jeweled and be-dazzled….also from Target $12.99 each. Amazing!):

My Family Room was is in dire need of a quick spring pick me up. The floral pillows are so happy!

The only thing I longed for were table linens. They would certainly have been delightful! Maybe next season…….
