As the More is More Mom®, I’m all about….more shades of autumn! Fall is my all time favorite time of year. To me, there’s nothing like that comforting sound of childhood; as you shuffle through a great big pile of leaves, hearing that distinct and delightful crunching sound. I love caramel apples, going to the pumpkin patch, drinking spicy hot cider, snuggling up in a cozy sweater and enjoying the beautiful colors of the season.
One of the quickest and most effective ways to bring the season into your home is through color. This week I was working on a project for one of my Interior Design clients and I was absolutely inspired by gorgeous artwork, throw pillows, upholstery, florals and accessories.
Whether painting walls, accessories, furniture or light fixtures, I’m always in favor of the amazing selection of colors offered by Benjamin Moore.
Artwork has transformative powers. While fine detailed works are endlessly interesting, a striking bold piece can have profound impact on a room. A piece this strong certainly deserves a place of prominence. It would be particularly stunning in a foyer, on a mantle or in the dining room. The red and orange flowers have a spicy and beautiful intensity, which is tempered by the richness of the wooden chest underneath. Benjamin Moore’s Tuscon Red #1300, Corlsbud Canyon #76 and Hasbrouck Brown HC-71 are great representations.

Throw pillows always add instant punch! They are a great way to add a nod to the season without making a major commitment. An occasional chair is another fantastic addition to your living space. Tuck it in a corner of a bedroom, your kitchen or next to your fireplace. These pieces, too, offer wonderful inspiration with an intense orange, a warm taupe and a luscious chocolate; Topaz #70, Cream Soda #1082 and Chocolate Pudding #1014.
Nature is always the most amazing inspiration. In the fall, we have so many warm and rich colors that we can incorporate into our homes to savor the season just a little bit longer. We can look to floral arrangements and nature inspired dinnerware for intense golds, bright reds and warm and happy greens; Habanero Pepper #1306, California Hills #216 and Sweet Daphne #529.
Whether you bring the shades of autumn into your home through artwork, upholstery or florals, you are sure to enjoy a happy harvest.
More making a home, more fabulous color, more celebrating the season…….
